Omniscient, at the service of all and available 24/7, here is VIKI! She does not come from San Francisco but from Lille, where David, Lead dev at ZTP, developed it.
But who is VIKI? The new intelligent assistant from ZTP!
David presents his creation to us:
“It all started when we purchased the Amazon Alexa and Google Home smart assistants for testing and demos. Once in hand, I told myself that we could make our own home automation system for our premises. This would allow everyone to save time in their missions, and everyone to work in innovative offices like ZTP.”
A project co-financed by the collaborators
A former electronics engineer, our enthusiast of connected objects is doing a demo of his intelligent voice-activated assistant. The objective is to control, simply by voice, lights and heaters, consult the availability and book meeting rooms, welcome customers... He is launching VIKI on Teamstarter. Barely 3 hours after the launch of the project, the 600€ budget was met. Would VIKI have come about without Teamstarter ?
“Without the tool it would have been complicated, it's not just development, there is also funding to be found, which is why Teamstarter worked very well.”
If this project had not seen the light of day, it would not only be David's creation that ZTP would have lost, but also a great way to transmit knowledge within the company and to do R&D in other ways. “At first I was all alone, then very quickly the other devs on the team came up to help me out of fun or to learn about aspects of development that they don't know about.”
Volleyball coach David insists:
“Transmission around a fun and concrete project is easier for everyone to assimilate.”
Thanks to this sharing of knowledge, the objective is that “everyone can implement skills at VIKI, even our employees who are not technical, and that our developers use these technologies for customer projects”.
Saving daily time for employees and technological demonstration for its customers, VIKI boosts the company.
VIKI is not the only project Teamstarter at ZTP: “financing and development of a small-sized autonomous car for the Iron Car, setting up daily fruit baskets, creating a vegetable garden in a company, and a teambuilding evening based on pizzas...!”
