To approach the next edition of the QVCT week with confidence, we have prepared a to-do list that details all the steps to be carried out.
What is QLW ?
Definition
Quality of life at work, often referred to as QWL, is a term that encompasses all issues related to psychosocial risks and factors of well-being in companies. It is generally considered that it integrates 4 essential aspects: physical integrity, psychological integrity, the development of social dialogue and finally the balance between professional and personal life.
Businesses that want to work on QWL must strive to activate all of these levers, without setting one aside. Moreover, we are now talking about QVCT, the “quality of life and working conditions”.
What is QLWC week?
QWL week was launched byAnact-Aract 20 years ago. The aim is to promote the approaches of companies that combine performance and improvement of working conditions. It is now an essential annual event in French social and economic life.
The next QVT week will take place June 17 to 21, 2024. A theme is honored each year, and for the 21st edition, “Anticipating tomorrow's work” was chosen. With the digital, societal and ecological changes that we are experiencing, businesses must transform in order to be able to cope with changes. This theme will therefore make it possible to question how to collectively anticipate tomorrow's work in order to improve it.
Why participate in QLWC week?
QWL week is an opportunity to highlight this essential subject for businesses, to give employees a voice and to discuss substantive topics. This event is a good excuse to get to grips with the subject and organize workshops, conferences or round tables around working conditions or well-being.
Of course, the quality of life at work is essential for businesses on a daily basis, so it is important to be interested in it throughout the year. The SQVT does not replace the annual involvement that managers must have on the subject; rather, it represents a complement that highlights daily concerns around the subject.
How to succeed in your QLWC week?
For your QWL week to be a real success within your company, it is essential that all your employees are involved. It is indeed a subject that affects all the people who work around you and everyone can bring an interesting point of view.
It is also essential to identify the themes that are the most important to address for your employees. If the activities put in place meet specific needs, there is a good chance that they will interest a large number of employees.
Finally, think about having a truly global and positive approach to the health and well-being issues you are going to address during this week. It is important to focus on the individual in their work environment, and not only on the professional risks involved.
7 steps to organize the QLWC week: your to-do list so you don't forget anything
Step 1: identify the needs and problems of your business
This first step allows you to draw up an inventory of the needs of your employees and the problems they encounter on a daily basis. Knowing their sources of concern is essential in order to adapt the activities you are going to implement to the topics that affect them.
So that everyone can freely express their desires and doubts, it may be a good idea to send an anonymous questionnaire to all of your employees. You must then carry out an analysis of the answers obtained and relate them to the context of your business. This allows you to identify the most concerning and pressing issues to address.
Step 2: Define the actions to be implemented
Once you have drawn up a list of the needs of your employees, it is time to choose the actions to be implemented as part of the QVCT week. If you were unable to complete the questionnaire in Step 1, you can rely on the theme highlighted this year.
Here are some concrete examples of interesting activities:
- Do prevention, in the form of conferences, round tables, fun workshops. Topics to be addressed may be musculoskeletal disorders, burn-out, disconnection, etc.
- Create teambuilding events. Indeed, being integrated into your team is essential to feel good in your company. It also contributes significantly to improving performance. The examples of activities are very varied, it is up to you to choose according to the number of participants, your budget and the time to devote to the activity.
- Set up workshops focused on physical well-being: muscular awakening, sitting massage, meditation, yoga, etc. Ideally, the exercises proposed should be able to be reproduced on a daily basis to offer benefits over time.
- Train employees about ergonomics. The layout of workstations, breathing techniques, and ways to adapt your posture can be discussed.
- Organize conferences on various topics, which particularly affect your company, and/or whose employees have made a specific request. The implementation of participatory management can for example be discussed in this context.
Step 3: choose the people who will be involved
To select the people who will lead your workshops, you can:
- You are talking to specialized professionals. These people generally have a good overview of the topics you want to deal with.
- Find freelancers within your network who could work in their field of expertise.
- Offer internally to employees the opportunity to share their experience on a particular theme. This makes it possible to enhance your skills and to create synergy within your employees.
Step 4: establish your QLWC Week schedule
Then comes the time to plan precisely the intervention times you want to put in place. Ideally, the highlights of the week should not overlap, so that everyone can freely attend the workshops that interest them.
At the same time, you must ensure that each event can be held in a dedicated room and that it has sufficient capacity to accommodate interested employees. It therefore requires a bit of organization and especially of foresight!
Step 5: Communicate internally
For your event to be a success, all of your employees must be aware of its existence and understand the value of participating in it.
To do this, managers have a role to play by informing their teams, and by discussing with them workshops that could be particularly interesting for them.
Internal communication campaigns, on a larger scale, can also be carried out. It's up to you to use the most suitable channels: e-mail, intranet, display. The aim is for no one within your company to be able to ignore the holding of this event.
Step 6: Be a real conductor during the event
During QWL week, it is important to set up a small team in charge of the technical management of the workshops (sound, slideshow, microphone), to guide the participants, to ensure that the timings are respected, etc. These people can also take advantage of the proximity with the employees to gather some on-the-spot reactions and to debrief with the speakers.
Depending on the number of events and employees who participate, this stage can be more or less difficult. However, it is essential that the event takes place as smoothly as possible for all those present. Otherwise, frustration could take over the content of the workshops and partially evade the benefits of your event.
Step 7: Take stock of your QLWC
As with all events, it is important to take stock some time after your QWL week.
To do this, gather the essential figures: the number of participants, the themes that interested them the most, the impact, the effectiveness of the initiatives, etc. If ideas have already been put forward for the next edition, write them down quickly so as not to forget them.
Optionally, you can send a new questionnaire in order to collect the impressions of your employees anonymously. They can also give you suggestions for improvement in the coming year.
